Claim on behalf of spouse or civil partner

To claim benefits for a dependent spouse, you must fill out a form called ME2. Both you and your spouse must sign it. The Department of Social Protection will review the application, and if applicable, you will be approved for the nominated person.

Once approved, the Department of Social Protection will notify you if are eligible for the full €1,000 PRSI hearing aid grant (2 hearing aids) or €500 (1 hearing aid).

Completing the ME2 Form

To claim benefits for a dependent spouse, you must fill out a form called ME2. Both you and your spouse must sign it. The Department of Social Protection will review the application, and if applicable, you will be approved for the nominated person.

  • When completing the ME2 form, make sure you provide the following information:
  • Your Personal Public Service number (PPS Number)
  • Your name and address
  • Your date of birth
  • Details about your employment in an EU/EEA country
  • Information about any employment schemes or social welfare payments you receive
  • The panel number and signature of your Audiologist
  • Details about the treatment, appliances, and associated costs you require

Once Approved

Once approved, the Department of Social Protection will notify you if are eligible for the full €1,000 PRSI hearing aid grant (2 hearing aids) or €500 (1 hearing aid).

The Audiologist will deduct either €500 or €1,000 from the cost of your hearing aids.
